Edit: After checking on the site, they recommend switching back to 2.6 for now. Apparently 2.8 does not support Wacom tablets. I think they intend to fix this for 3.0.
Please, anyone who uses Gimp--whether it's an old or new version--check this entry out.
I've been having trouble with my old version of Gimp. For instance, when I use it for a while, it will eventually make the Layer Boundary AND any selection I make disappear, and I have to restart to get it back. If it does do this, it'll find some other way to irk me--usually by 'turning off' a button. I. e., making it impossible to click on or use, though in some cases it's still possible to access the function through hotkeys. So far it's turned off the Layer drop down list (if I mouse over it or click, another happens), two brushes, and the entire Color Palette.
So in order to fix this problem, I figured I should finally install the latest version of Gimp. Big mistake. It first deleted the (somewhat working) version I had, and now I can't open the program at all without it disabling my pen tablet first off (if my computer freezes even slightly during the start up, it's guaranteed that pen pressure won't work when the program starts).
So I'm wondering a couple things. 1, obviously, has this happened to anyone else, and 2, where can I reinstall the old version of gimp? Because at least that one sort of kind of worked and I'm always willing to settle for less when it comes to these blasted computers...
